Airspace World

The global gathering of the air traffic management community, organised by CANSO. Three days bringing together every major air navigation service provider, the manufacturers of ATM systems and surveillance equipment, regulators, and the airline and AAM operators whose flights depend on the airspace system.

What to expect

Airspace World succeeded the long-running World ATM Congress in 2023 and has settled in Lisbon at FIL. The agenda has three threads running in parallel: the operational ATM track (capacity, delay management, free-route airspace, datalink), the systems track (CNS/ATM technology, surveillance, digital towers, AI in ATC), and an increasingly substantial integration track covering AAM/UAM, U-space, drones, and the airspace integration challenges facing the next decade. The exhibit floor is dominated by ATM systems integrators, surveillance equipment manufacturers, and ANSP service providers, with growing presence from training-device manufacturers serving the ATC training market and from AAM operators preparing for airspace integration.

Who attends

ANSP leadership and operational staff from every major air navigation service provider, ATM systems and surveillance manufacturers, regulators (EASA, FAA, ICAO), airline and AAM operators, ATC training providers and simulator manufacturers, U-space and drone integration companies, and a substantial academic and research contingent.

Why flight schools attend

Direct training-business relevance is narrow. Flight schools that should attend are those running ATC training programmes, those operating in airspace heavily affected by AAM/U-space integration, and those whose syllabus depends on tracking the operational evolution of European or US airspace. Most fixed-wing pilot training schools without an ATC programme find more practical value at WATS, EATS, or NTAS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Airspace World is CANSO's successor event to World ATM Congress, launched in 2023 after the World ATM Congress brand was retired. It serves the same community — ANSPs, ATM systems vendors, regulators — and most long-standing World ATM Congress attendees continued without disruption to Airspace World.

Generally only if the school runs an ATC training programme, operates in airspace materially affected by AAM/U-space integration, or has a strategic interest in the operational evolution of European or US airspace. Schools without one of those drivers usually find more directly relevant content at WATS or EATS.

Airspace World 2026 runs May 26-28 2026 at Feira Internacional de Lisboa, continuing the event's residence in Lisbon. Confirmed dates and registration are published via airspaceworld.com.
