What to expect

For one week each summer, Oshkosh becomes the busiest airport in the world. AirVenture combines a massive trade show, daily airshows, vintage and warbird displays, ultralight area, homebuilt area, FAA tents, manufacturer chalets, and the largest aviation fly-in camping experience anywhere. Forums and workshops run all week — hundreds of sessions covering technique, type-specific operations, regulations, careers, and aviation history. The scale is genuinely hard to convey until you see it. Plan minimum two days to cover the basics; serious attendees stay all week. Camping at Camp Scholler is part of the experience for many.

Why flight schools attend

AirVenture is the highest-traffic flight-school recruiting venue in North America by an enormous margin. Hundreds of thousands of aviation-curious visitors walk past flight school exhibits over the week. Schools with even a small presence in the relevant exhibit hangars meet more potential students in seven days than they do in a typical year of local marketing. The CFI hiring conversations also happen at Oshkosh — particularly for schools building career-pipeline brand recognition.
